Benson, L., Currey, D., Yong Lao and Hostetler, S., 1992. Lake-size variations in the Lahontan and Bonneville basins between 13,000 and 9000 14C yr B.P.. Palaeogeogr., Palaeoclimatol., Palaeoecol., 95: 19-32. Recessions of Lakes Lahontan and Bonneville that commenced ~ 13,500 ~4C yr B.P. were interrupted at i> 11,500 14C yr B.P. in the Lahontan basin and ~ 12,200 14C yr B.P. in the Bonneville basin by relatively large perturbations in lake level that persisted for ~ 2000 years. Minor glacial readvances in the Sierra Nevada and White Mountains of California-Nevada occurred during the latter half of this interval (between I 1,000 and 9700 14C yr B.P.). The hydrologic response of Lakes Lahontan and Bonneville and the mountain glacial advances were concurrent with the Allerod/Younger Dryas climatic intervals recorded in vegetational and glacial records of western and central Europe.

Viscosity Structure of the Crust and Upper Mantle in Western Nevada from Isostatic Rebound Patterns of Lake Lahontan Shorelines
Large lakes can both produce and record significant crustal deformation. We present an analysis of the isostatic rebound pattern recorded in the shorelines of paleo-lake Lahontan, in western Nevada, using a layered Maxwell viscoelastic model. The inferred viscosity structure depends on loading history. We use three variants of a well documented lake surface elevation model as input and recover ...

[1] Large lakes can both produce and record significant crustal deformation. متن کاملChronology of latest Pleistocene lake-level fluctuations in the pluvial Lake Chewaucan basin, Oregon, USA
New accelerator mass spectrometer radiocarbon ages from gastropods in shore deposits within the pluvial Lake Chewaucan basin, combined with stratigraphical and geomorphological evidence, identify an abrupt rise and fall of lake level at ca. 12 14C ka. The lake-level high is coeval with lake-level lows in the well-dated records of palaeolakes Bonneville and Lahontan, and with a period of relativ...
متن کاملLocal and Geographic Variability in the Distribution of Stream-Living Lahontan Cutthroat Trout
—We investigated local and geographic variability in the upand downstream distribution limits of threatened Lahontan cutthroat trout (Oncorhynchus clarki henshawi ) in stream habitats of the eastern Lahontan basin in northern Nevada and southeastern Oregon. At a geographic scale, elevations of upstream distribution limits were significantly correlated with latitude and longitude, suggesting a p...
متن کاملRangewide molecular structuring in the Utah sucker (Catostomus ardens).
The Utah sucker (Catostomus ardens) is endemic to the Bonneville Basin and the upper Snake River drainage in western North America, and is thought to hybridize with the federally endangered June sucker (Chasmistes liorus mictus) in Utah Lake (Bonneville Basin). Here we describe the discovery of a major subdivision in Utah suckers (4.5% mitochondrial sequence divergence) between the ancient Snak...
